Foundation Scholarships Available
Steve R. Rauch BEST Scholarship Two $1,500 scholarships are available to BEST participants who are high school seniors or older (maximum of 21 years of age as of Jan. 1, 2008). The scholarships are based on academics and extracurricular activities and one scholarship will be presented to applicants who are entering a non-Ag related field of study and the other to a participant who is pursuing an agricultural degree at a college or university. The scholarships will be awarded at the annual BEST banquet. Applications are due May 1, 2008, to the OCA office. Click here for an application.
Several college scholarships are available to beef industry youth through the Ohio Cattlemen's Foundation. These scholarships are administered through the Ohio Cattlemen's Foundation in conjunction with the following organizations and individuals. Applications will be accepted for the following each fall:
Ohio CattleWomen Scholarships Up to five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded annually to outstanding students entering their college junior or senior year (2007-08 school year) in the state of Ohio (in Autumn 2008). Priority will be given to applicants attending a school in Ohio. Applicants' majors may vary, however, preference will be given to a major in agriculture, specifically relating to beef. Applicants must be maintaining a 2.75 GPA or higher. Call Patti Spengler at 740-472-5313 or visit www.ohiocattlewomen.com for more information. Applications are due December 15, 2007.
Tagged for Greatness Scholarship Three $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a college student who is enrolled in an agricultural program or a graduating high school senior who plans to study agriculture at a college or university. This scholarship is made possible by the sale of Ohio's beef specialty license plates. For more information on purchasing beef plates, call the Foundation office at 614-873-6736.
Cattlemen's Country Club Scholarship Two $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a college student who is enrolled in an agricultural program or a graduating high school senior who plans to study agriculture at a college or university. This scholarship is made possible by proceeds from the beef putt-putt golf course at the Ohio State Fair.
Steve R. Rauch Inc., Benchmark of Excellence Scholarship This is the eighth year for the Steve R. Rauch Benchmark of Excellence Scholarship. The scholarship sets the "benchmark for excellence" in agriculture. A $5,000 scholarship will be dispersed over three years to one student enrolled in the College of Food, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences at The Ohio State University. Students eligible to apply must currently have sophomore standing at OSU and a 3.0 grade point average (GPA). The scholarship recipient will receive $2,000 upon selection this fall. Upon obtaining junior standing and maintaining a 3.0 GPA, a second award of $1,500 will be made. A final award of $1,500 will be made once senior standing is achieved and a 3.0 GPA is maintained. Previous recipients of the scholarship that are seeking their second and third awards must also submit their most recent college transcripts by October 31, 2006. Should one or both second and third year recipients not qualify with a 3.0 GPA, an additional first year scholarship of $2,000 will be presented.
